Rosie Lee are moving into the final phase of a long term self-initiated design project, exploring the results of combining classic furniture design with art & skateboarding.
The initial idea was born out of a comparison between the ergonomic curves of a skate board and the curves of designer furniture, and once we realised we could develop much more, the project crossed over into broader aspects of skate culture, including photography and art.
We collaborated with five influential artists who designed original artwork for the boards, Finnish illustrator Annu Kilpelainen; Mark Foster, Chinese-born French artist Yué; Ged Wells; and illustrator Mark Ward. Each artist contributed designs for three decks each.
Rosie Lee then shot a one minute video at the panoramic location of Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, London. The video and imagery documented four skateboarders from a London skate school breaking in the decks, and we are now ready for the final construction of the Rosie Lee Deck Chair.
